The significant presence of highly altered Pliocene pebbles, combined with acidic pH, promotes the release of valuable minerals and trace elements useful for the vine and precursors to the synthesis of intense, elegant, and persistent fruity olfactory notes. The resulting wines are particularly elegant and aromatic, with moderate structure, spiciness, and complexity.

Vigna Vescovo

The vineyard extends over a linear slope with a modest slope, facing northwest, consisting of marine poligenic conglomerates from the Pliocene era (3-5 million years) at an average altitude of 515 meters. The reddish soils are moderately deep, rich in pebbles and weathered skeleton, predominantly sandy loamy clay texture, non-calcareous, acidic pH, well-structured, well-drained, with moderate water reserves.

The vineyard extends over a plateau on the slope formed by marine poligenic conglomerates from the Pliocene era (3-5 million years) at an average altitude of 507 meters. The brown-colored soils are generally deep, with frequent skeleton consisting of well-altered pebbles, predominantly sandy loamy clay texture, non-calcareous, acidic pH, well-structured, well-drained, with high water reserves.

The moderate depth of these soils combined with good structure and internal drainage with optimal water supply induces a balanced vine development. The significant temperature fluctuations due to altitude in the post-harvest periods contribute to an excellent phenolic composition, the synthesis of elegant and complex aromas, with optimal acidity in the must.

The predominantly loamy clay texture, with a significant presence of clay contributed by the marly fraction of the Limestone, promotes a robust structure and color intensity. The moderate presence of Limestone ensures elegance, persistence of olfactory notes, and high aromaticity.

The mineral component of marly limestones, as well as the presence of fragments of an arenaceous nature, induce the synthesis of fine olfactory notes of red fruit and berries. The wines obtained are powerful, remarkably long-lived, rich in polyphenols, of an intense color, with a robust structure and high aromaticity.

The vineyard extends over a convex slope, with a gentle slope, facing west at an average altitude of 500 meters. Geologically, the area is characterized by the presence of the Sillano-Santa Fiora Formation of the Upper Cretaceous-Paleocene period (60-75 million years), consisting of clayey, marly limestone, silty, and calcilutite (carbonate granules the size of clay and silt). The soils are deep, with a useful depth of about 120 cm, with frequent skeleton consisting mainly of fragments of marly limestone and silt, predominantly loamy clay texture, moderately calcareous, subalkaline pH, well-structured, well-drained, with high water reserves.

The vineyard extends over a convex slope, with a moderate slope, facing South, Southwest at an average altitude of 495 meters. Geologically, the area is characterized by the presence of the Sillano-Santa Fiora Formation of the Upper Cretaceous-Paleocene period (60-75 million years), consisting of clayey, marly limestone, silty, and calcilutite (carbonate granules the size of clay and silt), and occasionally calcarenite. The soils are moderately deep, with a useful depth of about 100-110 cm, with frequent skeleton consisting mainly of fragments of marly limestone and silt, predominantly loamy clay texture, slightly calcareous, subalkaline pH, moderately structured.
